History The Western Reserve (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was chartered in 1987. Like those in the national organization, the founding women shared interests and enthusiasm for community service — they were determined to make a difference in the Greater Cleveland community. Tens of thousands of hours from chapter members have been devoted to mentoring children, instituting dialogues with teens, and conducting workshops and clinics that benefit women and their families to address concerns in the areas of health, education, social and economic disparities. In 1999 the Western Reserve (OH) Chapter launched its signature fundraising event, The Masked Mardi Gras Biennial Benefit, to advance its philanthropic arm — The Links Foundation — as well as to support the continuation of the chapter’s charitable programs. Today, the Western Reserve (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, with more than 50 active members, celebrates a rich history of over 30 years of programs, service and outreach. Learn more about the chapter’s programs at http://westernreserveohiolinks.org/.

The history of the Western Reserve (OH) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated, began with conversations among groups of friends in the living room of the home of Link Margot James Copeland, a member of the Cleveland (OH) Chapter. Link Margot, who would become the 15th National President of The Links, Incorporated, helped pave the way for the new chapter in

Our oral history
It was always clear to us: Our esteemed charter members, alumnae and distinguished platinum member knew the history of our chapter like the backs of their hands. We also realized that our Growing Leaders, high school girls, could benefit greatly from the experience of researching the chapter, its programs and members and then videotaping interviews with the women who could best tell the story. Members mentored the students who asked the Links about their contributions to the Links and their professional and personal roles in history.
Visit http://westernreserveohiolinks.org to see the full oral history interviews.

The program educates and raises awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD) in communities of color. Healthcare professionals from Northeast Ohio’s largest medical facilities participated in chapter-led virtual, in-person, on-demand interactive forums designed to reduce the risk of kidney failure and improve outcomes for people living with the condition. Additionally, all chapter members were required to complete an online Black K.A.R.E. certification learning module to develop them as community influencers in understanding CKD and raising awareness about its prevention and early detection.
