Gregory Borkowski, MD – Imaging Institute
Gregory P. Borkowski, MD, FACR, began his career at Cleveland Clinic in 1971 as an intern in the Department of Internal Medicine. He was accepted into the Internal Medicine Residency Program in 1972, serving as Chief Resident his last year. Following his residency, Dr. Borkowski served 2 years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Homestead A.F.B., Florida and then at Thule A.F.B., Greenland, where he served as Hospital Commander. He was accepted into the Radiology Residency Program in 1976, again, serving as Chief Resident during his last year in the program. Dr. Borkowski was appointed to Cleveland Clinic Professional Staff
in 1979. From 1984-86, he served as the Head, Section of Abdominal Imaging. In 1984, Dr. Borkowski was appointed as the Vice-chairman of the Division of Radiology. In 1985, he was appointed as Chairman, Department of Diagnostic Radiology. From 1997-2001, Dr. Borkowski also served as the Chairman of the Department of Regional Radiology. In 2007, Dr. Borkowski was appointed Chairman of the Imaging Institute, a position he still holds today. Dr. Borkowski has served on multiple Cleveland Clinic committees including as a member of the Board of Governors (1988-1992), several review and search committees, and served as the Chairman of the Space Allocation and Remodeling Committee for Cleveland Clinic, a position he held for 24 years (1986-2010). He has served two terms as the President of the American Society of Clinical Radiologists (2005-2006, 2016-2017). In 1997, he was elected as a Fellow in the American College of Radiology, a distinguished honor in the field of imaging. He has authored/co-authored numerous publications, book chapters and abstracts. Dr. Borkowski has been involved in many national societies including as an Examiner for the American Board of Radiology.
